Texas State Highway Spur 408
Spur 408, officially designated as "Patriot Parkway", is a connecting freeway between Loop 12 and Interstate 20, completely within the city of Dallas, Texas. The road is an integral part of the orbital road around Dallas, in conjunction with Interstate 635, and parts of Loop 12, Interstate 35E, and Interstate 20. Route description The freeway passes through a generally undeveloped area of Dallas; there are no businesses located anywhere on the route that can provide services to motorists. It is designated as "Patriot Parkway" since it passes along the eastern side of the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery; however, it is locally referred to as Spur 408. Spur 408 also passes near Dallas Baptist University, whose athletic teams are known as the Patriots, and The Potters' House, the megachurch pastored by T.D. Jakes. Texas State Highway Loop 12
Loop 12 is a state highway that runs mostly within the city limits of Dallas, Texas. The western segment of the loop is named after General Walton Walker, who served and died in South Korea. During the 1950s and 1960s, Loop 12 was the outer beltway in the Dallas area, having since been supplanted by I-635, which is itself being supplanted by the President George Bush Turnpike. Loop 12 is, however, the only state highway in Dallas that forms a complete loop ( Belt Line Road is also a complete loop but is not a state road except for a stretch as part of FM 1382). Interstate 20 in Texas (I-20) is a major east–west Interstate Highway in the Southern United States, running east from a junction with I-10 east of Kent, Texas, through the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex to the Louisiana state line near Waskom, Texas. The original distance of I-20 was from I-10 to the Louisiana state line, reduced to the current distance of with the rerouting of I-20 in the 1980s and 1990s. Dallas Baptist University (DBU) is a private Baptist university in Dallas, Texas. Founded in 1898 as Decatur Baptist College, Dallas Baptist University currently operates campuses in Dallas, Plano, and Hurst. It is affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. History Dallas Baptist University (formerly known as Decatur Baptist College and Dallas Baptist College) opened in Decatur, Texas in 1898. The Dallas Baptist Patriots are the 15 athletic teams that represent the Dallas Baptist University, located in Dallas, Texas, in NCAA intercollegiate sports. All of the varsity Patriot athletic teams compete at the NCAA Division II, Division II level with the exception of the Dallas Baptist Patriots baseball, baseball team, which plays in NCAA Division I, Division I. DBU Athletics also sponsors five club programs including; cheer, dance, bass fishing, lacrosse, and ice hockey.
